It is thundering right now, so I'm just gonna give it to you now.

Immunity Challenge #8:

Welcome, Survivors, to your 8th Immunity Challenge! Like I said before, this is a creative challenge.

I want you all to create a new character for any of the movies or games pertaining to this game. I don’t care what the character is, and doesn’t necessarily have to be from the game or movie you are from, but it does have to fit within the theme and plot of the movie or game you chose for your character, so obviously, you have to write a summary about your character. You can choose the following games/movies to put your character in: Dawn of the Dead (2004 remake), Dead or Alive, Grand Theft Auto, HALO, Inglorious Basterds, Kill Bill, Kingdom Hearts, any game from the Kirby franchise, any game from the Mario franchise, LittleBigPlanet, Mean Girls, Resident Evil (any of the games or movies will do), Scary Movie, Scream, the Twilight Saga, and Underworld. That should give you plenty of games and movies to work with. A drawing is not required, but it wouldn’t hurt either.

You will be graded (on a scale of 1-10) on:

Premise: Does it look like this could be a plausible character for the game/movie you chose?

Relationship: How well does this relate to the main characters of the actual video game or movie? Would it fit in with the plot and/or theme of the movie or game you picked?

Name (you’ll only be graded 1-5 on this one): Does your character have a name?

Summary: Is the summary well-written?

Fair enough? Your submissions will be due in your Confessionals at tomorrow 10 PM Eastern, and I do have 3 people outside of this game who are going to be judging your characters, so give this your best shot.

Just to clarify things, if any of the choices are a series, you can any installment you want of the series you chose.

Also the other Black Vote has been cast, and yes, the 2 jurors were allowed to talk it over amongst themselves since they still had to submit a vote.

PostSubject: Immunity Challenge Submission #1   Sun Jul 29, 2012 1:03 am

There were 3 submissions for the Immunity Challenge. I'm going to go from earliest submission to the latest one since there was a clear distinction in time difference for all 3 of them.

Quote :
Submission #1:

Name: Deena Sharp
Age: 29
Job: Age hired by the BSAA
Game: Resident Evil: Revelations
Role: Sent Jill and Parker to the ship to look for Chirs and Jessica. Deena was also saved by Jill before when a hunter attacked her. She has a caring spot for Jill be mcmcmcause of that. She takes her job seriously and knowss what is the right choice for the mission. She is half American and half Indian. She hss long black hair and brownn eyes. She is 5 ft 5. In the game she contacts Jill with advice.

Sora: Premise: I have just enough info to know what she is used for, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Not really much else to go off of though. However, she wouldn’t be entirely unbelievable for the game, so yay at that. 5/10

Relationship: I can definitely see her being a guide of sorts, like whenever you do tutorials for the game and stuff, and the background isn’t bad. My only problem in this department though is I’m not sure how being a guide and having this kind of backstory that you put in would mix very well. 7/10

Name: Like the name, and definitely something I could see being put in a RE character. 5/5

Summary: Yeah… The spelling mistakes are quite evident in your summary, and like I said before, there just wasn’t a whole lot to go off of. I mean, “be mcmcmcause”? I’m pretty sure I have never seen that word in a Dictionary before. Like the description though. 3/10

Total:
Spoiler:

Judge 1: Premise: 8/10
Relationship: 5/10
Summary: 1/10
Name: 4/5
Total:
Spoiler:

Comment(s): What a joke of a submission, but the sad part is, I am NOT laughing. While it's plausible, it's a bit boring and not fleshed out very well at all. There is not a whole lot to go on and this is easily the weakest submission. In fact, your submission is shorter than Mark's criteria to even judge them. I know that sometimes brevity is bliss, but nothing was really well-put together at all.

Judge 2: Premise: 5/10 Decent Premise

Relationship: 5/10 I understand how she fits into the story soo good job.

Name: 3/5 She has a name so there ya go

Summary: 1/10 Short and typo city

Total-

Overall, the judges and I all felt your summary did not provide enough info about your character and/or was plagued with too many typos, which, in turn, hurt your submission.

Submission #2:

Dawn of the Dead

Maj. Jason Hall (Brother of Police Sergeant Kenneth Hall)

As you may know in the movie, Ken at one point tries to reach his brother at Fort Pastor Army Base. They never get the chance but for this scenario we're going to say that Ken did make it to his brother.

Jason is 26 years old and in great physical shape. He stands about 5'11 and weighs 204 lbs. Though Kenneth is a serious character, Jason would be more laid back as he is quite a bit younger than Ken and hasn't been hardened by war and police work as much as his brother. Well he’s as laid back as you can get in a world that has become overrun with zombies. As a member of the Army Rangers and local police force Jason has gone through extensive physical and mental training. This is good because like his brother people will also look to him as a leader. Also it helps the group because other than Ken and C.J they don't really have people who are good with guns. Jason is also someone that people can confide in, he is a good listener and has a soft heart even though he is supposed to be a hardened solider.

Now to add him to the movie without changing much of it is simple. There is a scene already where Kenneth is packing a bag to go to the base, Michael convinces him to stay at the mall and help keep them safe. In my 10-20 minute scene, Kenneth is packing his bag and Michael makes the decision to go with him. They go to the dead zombified janitor in the sporting goods store that was killed earlier and grab his keys. They then head to the underground garage and find his truck. The story might need to be slightly changed so that the base is within decent distance with the mall. Upon arriving to the base, Ken and Michael see that the zombies eventually broke through the perimeter and breached the doors, there was just too many of them and not enough people on base. Michael tries to get Ken to go back to the mall but Ken who must find out his brothers fate insist that they go inside. Luckily when they go inside they find that most of the zombies have moved on, they do encounter a few but with Kens Benelli M4 shotgun and Mikes Browning 9x19 mm handgun they easily take them down. They explore the base until they find the barracks and they find it locked. Michael shots the lock out with his pistol and they walk in to find Jason and another soldier named Alex held up inside the room. Jason and Alex explain what happened at the base and that they had decided to hold up in that room because the zombies could not make their way in and they had plenty of MREs if they needed food (packaged meals given to soldiers to carry in their bags). They also expected reinforcements or the whole mess to be over with soon. After all that it had gotten dark so they decided to move to another barrack that still had its lock so they could sleep and leave in the morning when it’s light out. Before they left the base they stocked up on guns, ammo and medical supplies. On the way back to the mall they speed past plenty of zombies and were fortunate enough that one or more of them didn't get in their way. As they drove they listened to the emergency radio broadcast airing and it was explaining that if you are bitten or scratched you would become one of them. Alex's heart sank, he had been bitten as the soldiers retreated and fell back to the barrack chambers. Before he could tell the others they had arrived at the mall to find the parking lot even more crowded with zombies. Michael knew they couldn't get the garages open without being overrun with them. They needed a distraction. Alex, knowing his fate, got out of the car and started running while the zombies chased him. Michael, Ken and Jason took this momentary distraction and drove into the garage. Alex ran until he was surrounded and when he saw the garage close, he took his life so the others could live. Once inside the garage, a couple zombies had also got inside so Jason took out his M16 assault rifle and killed them.

After that added scene the movie would continue its general plot lines. As far as relationships go with the other characters Jason would be well liked and received by them because of his laid back and friendly demeanor and ability to protect them. Obviously Kenneth and Jason would get along and Jason even gets Ken to drop his guard and relax just a little bit and open up to the other people. Even Steve would get along well with Jason they would be able to joke around with each other and talk about women, seeing that Steve and Jason got around a bit before everything went to shit. He also has a decent relationship with Andy though they never get to actually talk. Using the white boards for communication they have contests to see who shot the most zombies in the head in one minute. Andy stands on the gun shop roof while Jason stands on the mall roof. The others keep score. Though some of the other survivors have argued with each other like Michael and C.J and Steve and others Jason remained the same nice guy the whole time because he believed that just because the world they knew had become hell that without each other and unity they would fail. While the survivors in the mall start reinforcing the shuttle buses to drive to Steve’s boat Jason helps the guys with the labor. When the survivors were getting ready to board the now completely reinforced buses many of them were scared and Jason comforted them with his speech "Look, I know you're scared, heck I'm scared. But today we're going to be fearless, today we leave this prison and we try to get to freedom, we deserve it. What's out there on those streets will get in here eventually and when they do we're going to be gone. So let's get to that island! Take all that fear inside of you and turn it into hope, turn it into confidence. Today we are free and today we are untouchable. We will get through this, I will lead you through this, I will protect you and so will God." If you have seen the movie you know what happens next. One of the buses crashes, killing some of the survivors. The other bus makes it to the docks and Ana, Kenneth, Nicole, Terry and Jason make it to the boat. The ending will remain the same with their fates undecided.

I picked Derek Luke to play Jason
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1035682/

I like this action shot, he's in a police uniform you can sort of get the feel for him and see him in action

In this shot, you see more of his appearance, notice the military dog tags around his neck.

Sora: Premise: I like the idea, but this would seem a little too “nice guy”-ish for somebody who has to deal with a zombie apocalypse, though it wouldn’t be too implausible either because if anyone’s watched the movie “Zombieland”, you’d know that the rule “Enjoy the little things” eventually gets written down and would be important in surviving a zombie apocalypse. 7/10

Relationship: That it would require a slight change of course in the movie would make this a bit of a gamble, and judging by what would happen during Jason’s stay at the mall, it seems as if the movie would actually be better off without Jason, so the gamble does not look like it’d pay off for the movie. I like the siblings relationship with Ken though, and you picked a good choice in the potential actor for the guy. 4/10

Name: I like that you went for the brother of your co-host. 5/5

Summary: Unlike the Resident Evil submission where not enough info was given, your summary was so long that it just became boring to read. What also hurts the summary is that while I was reading your summary, I noticed you, as the creator, were thinking out loud in parts like when Ken and Michael leave to go to the base, and that should never happen when you’re writing a summary for a character in a movie. Other than that, it’s not a bad summary. Sad as it is to say this though, if not for the pictures you provided at the end, you would have gotten a lower score. 5/10

Comment(s): While I do like that you included a heroic character that would be universally liked (by the cast and by the audience themselves), I do have to admit that heroes are a little boring and I want to see drama ensue between characters in a horror to change the dynamics, not a hero make everything all fine and dandy.

Judge 2: Premise: 10/10 Love this movie and you worked him into the story seamlesssly.

Relationship: 9/10 Everything seems to fit in here pretty well so good job

Name: 5/5 Names tied in with the character well.

Summary: 7/10 lots of information but the main part was a tad long. But I appreciated all the pictures to go along with it.

While not all 3 of us who graded it had specifically agreed on a certain aspect, it is agreed that the summary was helped by its pictues, but hurt by its length. It is also agreed between me and 1 other judge that while the heroic character aspect of the guy is cool, it can also dull the movie down a notch.

There is 1 more submission to look at.

Submission #3:

Name: Shade (Skr’ah)
Picture: http://tinyurl.com/cgay9yw

Skr’ah is a mysterious being who Master Chief would soon confront on the red planet that he and Cortana are shown drifting towards during the ending sequence of the Halo 3 campaign. Skr’ah’s planet is occupied by an alien race not unlike the Elites, as a result of similar evolution. Skr’ah is not one of them, however, but rather is the last known being of the great race known as the Forerunners. He is a very secretive creature, perpetually cloaked and venturing out rarely, thus causing the local alien race to give him his name, which translates to “Shade”. The palm of his left hand bears a symbol denoting the true name given to him by his people many millennia ago. He speaks very little, but when he does his deep, powerful voice reveals the authority that this great race once possessed. Shade’s private lifestyle is a result of his attempt to conceal his true power and immortality.

As with all Forerunners, Shade lives a life according to the Mantle. The Mantle denotes that it is the responsibility of the Forerunners to act as protectors of the peace and never to harm a living being. Even from within the shadows, Shade has managed to manipulate the alien race on his planet to live their lives peacefully, but he also has an ulterior motive. A Lifeworker in Forerunner society before the Forerunner-Flood war, Shade has become slowly, yet increasingly devious over time. As it has been over 100,000 years since the disappearance of the rest of his race, Shade has secretly been developing a plan to rediscover the rest of his brethren and to once again control the galaxy. He has waited patiently all these years for the arrival of the chosen one, John-117, known to many as Master Chief. In Shade’s eyes, a takeover by the Forerunners would ensure peace across the universe, and he believes the remainder of his race will be revealed once his conquest has neared completion. As Master Chief hurdles towards Shade’s planet, locked in cryogenic sleep, Shade knows the time is drawing near. His great power has allowed for the manipulation of the local alien population to serve as his personal intergalactic army, and Chief will lead them into battle. Shade’s plan, millennia in the making, will soon become a reality. Chief’s deep respect for, and special link to, the Forerunners, will allow Shade to control Chief’s intentions despite Cortana’s warnings. Chief had thought the fighting was over after his triumph on the Ark, but he fails to realize the events that will arise upon his arrival on the red planet and the meeting with the one they call Skr’ah.

Sora: Premise: Very good premise, and I can definitely see this character possibly being in the Halo storyline. Actually, I would love to see the developers actually incorporate this character into one of their games. 10/10

Relationship: This could very possibly happen as they are coming out with a Halo 4, and since it’s taking place after the Halo 3 campaign, if this were actually in the Halo 4 gameline, then you would have the most credible creation out of the 3. Even if it doesn’t appear there though, it is possible that there could always be a spinoff where this actually happens without interfering with the rest of the franchise. Great job there too. 10/10

Name: It was great that you translated this so that I know what Skr’ah means, and I like that it translates to “Shade”, kind of like in the Inheritance Cycle where “Zar’roc”, the name of the sword Brom gives to Eragon, would translate into the word “Misery”. 5/5

Summary: It is not boring to read, and it shows that you have a rich vocabulary. It’s not something I would read to people who are unfamiliar with Halo since they might not know what the Flood or any of that is, but anyone who’s either played any of the games or has seen someone play any of the games would be able to understand this no problem. 9/10

Comment(s): I do think that this character is complex enough to be worth enough to be included in the Halo series. It's not a simple background character who shows up out of nowhere <3 I love how he wants to take over the whole universe and slowly grows devious over time. Go villains, woot! I wish it had a larger fanbase, but it is what it is. I don't think this character would be a "breakout character" anytime soon, however, meaning the fanbase probably wouldn't increase. Still could be a fun treat for Halo gamers.

Judge 2: Premise: 7/10 cool premise that ties into the games story well.

Relationship: 8/10 this is something I could easily see happening within the game itself.

Name: 5/5 a unique name to the story.

Summary:9/10 A good bit of information here but not too long.

Since I will be at work and on my long way home, Ken will be hosting tomorrow's Tribal Council instead of myself.

Also, before you vote, I must remind you that there are 2 Black Votes that have been cast for this Tribal Council, and because the tiebreaker between Yoshi and Tatum could not allow Tatum to cast her Black Vote until Shosanna was voted off as well, everyone here in the Top 8 was vulnerable to the Black Vote, so getting the numbers is going to extremely important if you want to survive this Tribal Council as one of you could be as little as 3 more votes from getting voted off.

Happy voting.
